Council election results

The Institute extends its congratulations to the following successful candidates in the recent Council election (in alphabetical order):

                        Mr David Goodsall

                        Mr Barry Rafe

                        Mr Daniel Smith

The new Councillors will serve from the end of the Annual General Meeting on 17 December 2008 for a period of four years.

Proposed new Life Members

Council has decided to recommend to members that the following Fellows be elected as Life Members of the Institute at the forthcoming Annual General Meeting:

            Mr Kerry Roberts

Benefit certificates – ATO extends deadline

The ATO has extended to 31 December 2008 the deadline for employers to obtain benefit certificates which cover the September 2008 quarter. The Superannuation and Employee Benefits Practice Committee has released an Information Note to assist members.

Projected super benefit illustrations – draft Practice Guideline for member comment

The Benefit Projections Working Group has prepared a draft Practice Guideline re projected superannuation benefit illustrations. This draft Guideline – which updates and amends the current Guidance Note 466 – has now been approved by the Superannuation and Employee Benefits Practice Committee for release to members for comment. The draft Practice Guideline is accompanied by an Explanatory Memorandum which describes the key changes from GN 466. The closing date for member comment is Wednesday, 31 December 2008
