The Catastrophe Risk Exchange, Inc. (CATEX) was formed in 1994 and is licensed by the New York Insurance Department as a reinsurance intermediary that acts in a neutral capacity. The company owns and operates the CATEX Global Exchange which permits parties to buy and sell reinsurance and to transact reciprocal reinsurance swaps. The vast flows of data associated with underwriting, whether it is extensive location information or voluminous claims histories, may be processed, sorted and converted to easily retrievable information reports as desired. The complete processing of premium invoicing and payment as well as claims and claim reserving functions are included on the system. Aggregate loss information and earned and unearned premium information, in real time, are available as well.
